01 / The Lead Lift |
The Olympia is over. The next race starts this weekend. The 2027 Olympia field is already moving. The IFBB Pro League's qualification period opened August 31. Men's Open is simple: the 2026 Olympia top three qualify, then every open-show winner during the window earns a place. That is why this weekend matters. The Everest Muscle Legends Pro runs October 3-4 in Warsaw with 17 Men's Open athletes on the official list. The Pharlabs Mexico Pro follows October 4 in Nuevo Vallarta, with Men's Open among nine divisions. Each show awards its Open winner a place; any winner not already qualified joins Nick Walker, Samson Dauda, Derek Lunsford, and Regan Grimes on the list. This is not a second Olympia. Most top names are absent, lists can change, and qualifying now guarantees only a place in next year's field. The useful story is the reset: athletes can solve a season-defining problem this weekend. Our read: watch the winners, not early callouts. FitnessVolt's guide explains both systems and the opening field; the IFBB list remains final for late changes. |

02 / Fuel Check |
Use protein timing to close a gap, not race a clockWhat: Daily protein and repeatable meals matter more than whether a shake lands before or after the last set. Why: A 2025 meta-analysis of five studies directly comparing pre- versus post-workout protein found no meaningful difference in lean mass or chest-press strength. The evidence was low certainty, so this is not proof that timing never matters. It is evidence against treating 30 minutes as a deadline. Try: If you train after an overnight fast, eat 25-40 grams of protein within roughly one or two hours. Otherwise, count from the last substantial protein meal to the next. If training sits inside a gap longer than about five hours, place 20-40 grams on whichever side is easier. No long gap? Leave the stopwatch in your gym bag. Read the full three-situation guide |

03 / Coach's Card |
Pull toward the hip, then earn the loadGoal: Lower-lat emphasis // Level: Intermediate Time: 30-35 minutes // Equipment: Cable station, dumbbells, and an incline bench Three-move lower-lat workout| Move | Work |
|---|
| Single-arm cable pulldown | 3 x 10-12 per side | | Straight-arm cable pulldown | 3 x 12-15 | | Chest-supported dumbbell row, pulled low | 3 x 8-12 | Rest 60-90 seconds. Keep the chest tall, shoulders down, and drive the elbow toward the hip instead of flaring it behind you. Use a full controlled stretch and stop each set with one or two clean reps left. Regression: Use two sets per move and a lighter load that lets the shoulder blade move without shrugging. Progression: Add reps inside the range first, then add the smallest load when every rep still finishes low. Stop or change the angle if the shoulder pinches; a V-taper is not improved by arguing with a joint. See Frank Zane's four cues and five exercise options |
04 / The Strength Bulletin |
Lee Haney's donor came from bodybuildingEight-time Mr. Olympia Lee Haney said on September 29 that he woke from a 12-hour kidney transplant with a donated kidney from Richard Miller, a bodybuilder whose path first crossed his in 1985. Haney thanked Miller, his medical team, family, and supporters. The only responsible next update is Haney's own recovery news; there is no value in guessing at a medical timeline. Read Haney's account | Andrew Jacked will defend in ColumbusReigning Arnold Classic champion Andrew Jacked and Arnold Sports confirmed his return for the March 4-7, 2027 festival in Columbus. That matters because he placed fourth at the Olympia after a season that included the Arnold USA and UK titles. Nick Walker has discussed a possible return, but he is not confirmed. 05 / One More Rep |
Keep the live sources beside the predictionsThe official qualification system separates the seven win-and-in divisions from the four top-20 points races and the Wheelchair hybrid. The official Everest competitor list is the cleanest last check before Warsaw because names can change after an article publishes. |
06 / Weekend Assignment One clean session. Two verified winners.Run the lower-lat card once with a load you can pause at the bottom. Then check the two official Olympia qualifier results after the weekend. One clean session and two verified winners are enough; prediction season will remain available without your help. |
