01 / The Lead Lift |
The best pre-workout meal is the one your clock can digestYou have 45 minutes before training and dinner feels like a brick. The fix is matching food to the time your stomach has. With two to four hours, eat a normal carb-and-protein meal: chicken and rice, eggs on toast, or oatmeal with yogurt. With 60 to 120 minutes, make it smaller: Greek yogurt and a banana, a turkey sandwich, or cereal with milk. Under an hour, choose a familiar option only if hungry, such as toast with jam, fruit, yogurt, or a light smoothie. The session matters. A short lift after a regular meal may need nothing extra. Long leg sessions, hard intervals, endurance work, and training beyond 90 minutes deserve more attention. Fat and fiber are not bad; large amounts may feel slow when the barbell is waiting. Save three options: a full meal, a one-hour snack, and a five-minute backup. Test them on ordinary training days. Your overall diet, sleep, and program still do the heavy lifting. |

02 / Fuel Check |
The useful part of The Rock's shake is the texture, not the mythologyWhat: Dwayne Johnson swapped cream of rice for cooked jasmine rice blended with protein powder before training. Why: A drink can be easier to tolerate than a full solid meal when training is close. The rice is still carbohydrate and the powder is still protein; the blender does not unlock a secret anabolic setting. Try: Blend protein powder with a small portion of cooked rice and enough water to make it drinkable. Test it before training, far enough ahead that it sits comfortably. Limitation: Johnson also listed an intra-workout mix with 50 grams of dextrin, 275-300 milligrams of caffeine, EAAs, salt, and 10 grams of creatine. That is his stack, not a general starting prescription. See The Rock's full pre- and intra-workout breakdown |

03 / Coach's Card |
Nick Walker's two-move shoulder block leaves nowhere for sloppy reps to hideGoal: Delts without turning Friday into a second full push day // Level: Intermediate Time: 15-20 minutes // Equipment: Lateral-raise machine and Smith machine Two-move shoulder workout| Movement | Work |
|---|
| Standing lateral-raise machine | 3 x 12-15 |
|---|
| Seated Smith-machine shoulder press | 3 x 8-10 |
|---|
Rest 60-90 seconds. Keep one or two clean reps available on the first two sets. If every rep stayed controlled, use one rest-pause extension on the final lateral-raise set only. Add reps before load. Keep straight: End the press when your rib cage or bar path starts doing the work. Use a neutral-grip machine press or skip pressing if the movement causes sharp pain or pinching. 04 / The Strength Bulletin |
Olympia qualification just became a smaller points race in four divisionsWhat changed: The official 2027 Olympia Qualification System sends the top 20 in points, rather than 25, from Classic Physique, Men's Physique, Bikini, and Wellness. Winning two ordinary open contests earns automatic qualification; a win at the Arnold Classic USA, Pittsburgh Pro, New York Pro, Romania Muscle Fest Pro, or Dubai Pro also qualifies an athlete immediately. Why it matters: Fewer points places increase the cost of an uneven season, while the two-win route rewards athletes who can repeat. The 2027 window runs from August 31, 2026 through September 12, 2027. Keep straight: Men's Open and the other listed divisions keep their existing winner and top-three routes. This is the 2027 system, not a late change to the 2026 Olympia lineup. Read FitnessVolt's breakdown of the new qualification system |
05 / One More Rep |
Ryan Terry nearly lost the prep: He says an undisclosed injury almost ended his Olympia run. Since he has not named it, any diagnosis is guesswork. Read Terry's update. | One point separated the WFP podium fight: James Sprague and Emma Tall won; Luka Djukic took third by one point. See all seven events. | Two experts, two Olympia winners: Guy Cisternino picked Nick Walker; Seth Feroce picked Samson Dauda. These are opinions, not scorecards from the future. Compare their top fives. |

06 / Weekend Assignment Build a pre-workout menu that survives your scheduleWrite down three foods you tolerate: one meal for two to four hours out, one snack for 60 to 120 minutes, and one option for the five-minute scramble. When the schedule slips, use the list instead of asking the vending machine to coach you. |
