01 / The Lead Lift |
Build a floor before you build a fantasy weekOur locker-room poll ended in a three-way tie: time, improvised nutrition, and pain each took 26.5 percent. Recovery followed at 20.6 percent. Translation: the week rarely breaks in only one place. So give it a floor. Train three times, keep each session to three main movements, and carry the sequence forward instead of welding it to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. | Day A | Squat, bench press, row |
|---|
| Day B | Hinge, overhead press, pulldown |
|---|
| Day C | Split squat, incline press, cable row |
|---|
Do two or three work sets per movement, mostly for 6-12 reps, with one to three good reps left. If Wednesday disappears, Day B becomes Friday. Do not cram B and C together as punishment for having a calendar. This is a minimum useful week, not a forever program. Advanced lifters may need more volume, and pain can require a different movement or qualified assessment. But a plan that survives an imperfect week beats a six-day masterpiece living only in your Notes app. |

02 / Fuel Check |
Make the snack that eats like foodWhat: Mix 200-250 grams of Greek yogurt or skyr with one scoop of protein powder. Add cocoa or cinnamon, then milk one tablespoon at a time. Finish with berries and a measured crunchy topping. Why: It can deliver roughly 30-45 grams of protein with more volume and control than a fixed bar. The useful trick is the format, not dessert magic. Try: Keep the base in the fridge and add cereal, granola, or nuts only when eating so the crunch survives. Limitation: Toppings can turn a snack into a 650-calorie side quest quickly. Measure them, use a powder you already tolerate, and verify the numbers for your brands. 03 / Coach's Card |
The shoulder-position upper-body cardGoal: Press and pull while auditing shoulder position // Level: Beginner to intermediate Time: 30-35 minutes // Equipment: Pulldown or assisted pull-up, dumbbells, adjustable bench Shoulder-position upper-body workout| Movement | Work |
|---|
| Neutral-grip pulldown | 3 x 8-12, 2 RIR |
|---|
| Neutral-grip dumbbell bench | 3 x 8-12, 1-2 RIR |
|---|
| Seated dumbbell overhead press | 2 x 8-12, 2 RIR |
|---|
Rest 90 seconds. Before each pull, create space between shoulders and ears. On presses, keep elbows slightly forward rather than flared straight out. Use a pain-free range; these are position cues, not a promise against injury. Regress: Use a machine chest press and pulldown with a comfortable neutral grip. Progress: Add reps before load; add a third overhead-press set only when the same position holds. Safety: Sharp pain, weakness, numbness, or persistent symptoms need assessment. Do not turn a cue into a battle with an irritated joint. See Jeff Cavaliere's seven shoulder-position fixes |

04 / The Strength Bulletin |
Patrick Moore beat the forecast in TexasWhat happened: Patrick Moore won the 2026 Texas Pro Men's Open title on the official IFBB scorecard, edging predicted favorite Regan Grimes 8-10. Kennedy Anyanwu placed third and John Jewett fourth. Why it matters: Moore earned the result when Olympia qualification pressure was running out of calendar. The two-point gap also shows why a confident prediction is not a scorecard. Watch next: The qualification deadline is August 30. FitnessVolt will follow the confirmed field and remaining routes to Las Vegas; do not treat social-media reactions as official placings. Read the official 2026 Texas Pro scorecard |
05 / One More Rep |
Nick Walker's six-week receipt: Walker says he is no longer proving he belongs; he is trying to prove he can win. The update is intent, not a judging result. See the update. | Do not buy the biggest magnesium number: A label can show 1,500-3,750 mg of magnesium malate without stating that much elemental magnesium. Use the label check. 06 / Locker Room Readback The problem was not one problemTime, improvised nutrition, and pain tied at 26.5 percent; recovery landed at 20.6 percent. That is why today's plan uses a floor, a prepared snack, and movement options instead of pretending motivation fixes the whole week. | Time gets squeezed | 26.5% | | Nutrition gets improvised | 26.5% | | Pain or a nagging issue | 26.5% | | Recovery falls behind | 20.6% |
